Many stainless steel flanges used in high-pressure and high-temperature conditions are subject to cracking and this diminishes process integrity. Until now, general penetration testing has been used for flange examination, but this method requires dismantling of the flange.

The use of conventional Ultrasonic Testing (UT) suffers from significant dead zones beneath the bolt holes, rendering such inspections less effective.

The Solution

CQA testing services applies a unique and very advanced technique to inspect Ring Type Joint (RTJ) flanges for cracks while in operation without generating a dead zone.Ultrasonic Testing only sends ultrasonic waves to the flange top. Instead, this test introduces sound waves obliquely and vertically to the groove face and flange top, making it possible to cover all of the groove area, including parts beneath bolt holes.

Flanges larger than 4 inches can be inspected with this special testing method. The inspection time required for a pair of flanges is very short and costly dismantling and mounting is avoided, provided no defects are found. This solution to ensure your assets operate safely and efficiently.
